Selena jiggled her keys and found her front door one. She pushed the bronze key into the lock and twisted, kicking the door open with her leather boot. Nobody was home, both of her parents work late. They trusted their 16 year old daughter enough to leave her home alone for hours on end. The colonial three story house towered above the ranches on either side. It was a big house, two living stories plus a basement. Her room was basically all of the basement. It wasn't like, mouse and spider basement, it was furnished with wooden panel walls, carpet, and basically anything Selena wanted. Her parents spoiled her, and though her friends tease her about it, she takes every advantage.

Selena walked down the stairs to her basement. It was approximately the size of a small gymnasium. In one corner, tiled floor and a long counter housed a cabinet full of plates and bowls, a drawer full of silverware, a mini fridge, a microwave, and a small electric stove. A round table and four chairs sat adjacent to the counter. In the rest of the room, the plush white carpet resumed its threshhold. In the corner opposite the kitchen area, Selena's school space overflowed with a desk made for an office building, a leather swivel chair, a filing cabinet, a dell flatscreen 31 inch computer, and a small table crammed with textbooks, binders, paper, pencils and Selena's backpack. Her bedroom corner was more girly. Her bed was king size with curtains she pulls around it at night. Her nightstand holds an alarm clock and soothing sounds machine. Pink fur wallpaper adorned this corner.

Selena has her own private bathroom, too. It has a tub, which was more of a jaccuzi, a sauna as her shower, and an artfully crafted vanity hold enough makeup for at least 20 different girls with totally different tastes. The one thing that all Selena's friends crave when they have sleepovers is her closet. Easily half the size of her room, Selena's closet is almost the size of a small clothing store, and has about as much clothes, probably more.

As Selena walked down to the bottom of the stairs, she stopped and smiled. Her room always made her do that. It was her dream room, always had been. She had moved her with her mom and dad when she was 13, and they immediately started redecorating the basement for her, because they felt bad about making her move in the middle of the school year, leaving all of her friends behind.

Feeling very dedicated, Selena made her way to her desk and the pounds of homework awaiting the slender brunette. She settled into the leather swivel chair with a 'humph' and clicked open a firefox browser. She had a health assignment on the food pyramid, and she had to make her own. Deciding to make it with the easiest method, hercursor clicked twice on the PowerPoint icon. Quick research and picture finding got her assignment done in record time. She printed it out and shoved it into her homework folder and slipped it into her backpack.

Next was world studies, then biology, and after that, global, and then Spanish, and then she was done! Two hours later, an exhausted Selena put the remnants of her homework into the black sparkly shoulder bag. Remembering she hadn't taken her boots off, Selena kicked off the expensive leather knee highs and skipped over to her kitchen. The fridge contained an array of Selena's favorite foods. She chose some Bagel Bites and popped a plate of them into the microwave. When they were done, Selena slipped them out, pulling a lemonade from the fridge at the same time. She plopped down at the table, sipping her lemonade as she waited for her dinner to cool.

Small bites devoured the Bagel Bites in minutes. The lemonade took longer, so Selena grabbed it up, threw out her trash, and headed over to her bed. She set the drink down next to her favorite book, Breaking Dawn, and headed to her closet to change. Selena stepped out of her closet in black silk pants and tank top. Slipping into bed Selena turned off the main lights in her room and was left with only the overhead light above her bed. She drew the curtains closed, leaving a space for Selena to reach her lemonade on the night stand. She picked up her book and began to read the epic story of Edward and Bella, taking small sips of lemonade in between pages. Finally tired enough to actually fall asleep, Selena put the bookmark in and tossed her empty can into the recycling bin by her door, which was closest to the bedroom corner, and flipped off her light. Snuggled under her downy blankets, Selena soon drifted off into a night sleep filled with bright colors and unicorns.

Kody drove through his old neighborhood and remembered all the things that had gone on.
Kody's parents had left him when he was 17 with a aunt. When Kody had turned 18 he had moved to the country where he lived now in his little two story house. Before he had moved he had lived happily in his parents medium size house. As a young teenager Kody had had many friends. He was a popular guy. His house had stood alone for a while, until, that is, that a family had moved in. Kody had been all excited that he would have another guy to join his neigborhoods fottbal team. Then he had found out that instead of a guy the neighbors had a girl his age. Kody didn't meet Selena until the first day of school. She was immediatly picked up in one of his many admirers groups. He had observed that she was very pretty and didnt stare like her other friends. For some reason that day Kody couldnt get Selena off his mind. He decided to go talk to her. Kody and Selena ended up becoming good friends. They would talk and joke around with each other. It was never awkward for them, just friendship.
Kody looked up from his thoughts and found himself outside of Selena's house. He remembered that they hadn't really said goodbye to each other the day Kody had moved out over the summer. Now that school was starting that week they were bound to see each other. Kody had the sudden earge to see his old friend. He hoped it wasnt to early. He checked his watch. 11:30. She should be up by now, Kody thought as he jumped out of the car. He walked up the walk way to her door and knocked. As Kody waited he had a strage thought that things were about to change.

Selena hopped out of bed around 9:30 in the morning. Bright morning light shone through her miniature windows high to ceiling; it was a basement, and basements were underground. Feeling slightly chilled, on her way to the monster closet, Selena switched on her space heaters. They would have her room nice and toasty in no time. Because of all of her choices, Selena had a hard time picking out what to wear. First she tried on a silver sequined V-neck belly shirt to show of her peirced navel, but then she realized it would be far too chilly, even if the day warmed up. But just to check, Selena pried open one of her sticky windows and stuck a perfectly manicured hand out into the morning sunlight. To her surprise, heat flooded into her large room.

Shrugging her shoulders, Selena shut the window and headed back into her closet. In no time, she was dressed in the sequined tank top with a silver half jacket made of thin fabric. She tied it in the front in a fashionable twist. That just left bottoms to be decided. A skirt was most likely too much to ask of the warm weather. The seasons were changing, she had no idea if the weather would hold. Selena decided quickly on a pair of artfully faded blue jeans. They were comfortable, yet stylish. Although she probably wasn't going to be seeing anyone today, Selena had a habit of putting make-up on anyways. Since she took showers at night, Selena's hair was dry and curly, as it naturally was.

First she straightened her hair, which didn't take long at all, what with her professional straightener. Selena decided to stick with the silver theme and brushed on a light silver eyeshadow. Next she added a semi-thick line of bblack eyeliner to her lower lid, and did the same to her top, but with liquid eyeliner. Most girls know how hard it is to use hardened eyeliner on a top lid, as Selena did. She finished off her look with a coat of mascara, and examined herself in the mirror. She posed several different times, examining her face in several different angles. Deciding to color her cheeks a little, Selena brushed on a rose colored blushed, and sighed in satisfaction. Not all girls had beauty such as hers, and Selena tried not to gloat about it. Finished with her makeup, Selena brushed her teeth for five minutes and then rinsed with peppermint mouthwash. The best part about Selena was that it never took her more than a half an hour to get ready, as it did now.

Not feeling hungry enough to eat breakfast, Selena skipped over to her computer and surfed the web for an hour and a half. Around 11:30, Selena heard the doorbell ring from her speaker by the bottom of the stairs. Pausing the game she was in the middle of, Selena rushed up her stairs, taking them 2 at a time. Wondering if it was somebody from school, she fixed her hair in the hallway mirror before answering the door. It was the last person she expected to see. Her almond shaped chocolate colored eyes widened at the tall, muscular figure that stood on her front stoop. It took her all of three seconds to trow herself at Kody and hug him to death. Although she was almost a head shorter than him, Selena wrapped her arms around him and squeezed him as hard as she could. Her best friend, whom she hadn't seen in months, was her on her front step! And that thought made Selena hug him even harder. When she finally let go, she smiled dazzlingly up at the black haired wonder that stood in front of her. Selena sighed and said, "Kody...I've missed you so much! Why didn't you say goodbye?"

Kody was caught by utter suprise when someone had finallly opened the door. He hadn't been really expecting anyone to answer, so thats why he was very caught off guard when Selena opened the door, took one look at him, and then hugged him. The hug didn't feel like Kody had expected coming from one of his close friends. He wanted to hug back. And he did, but as a friend would.

When Selena drew back Kody noticed that she had changed from a 11-yearold whose favorite clothes to wear were a pair of faded blue jeans and a white tank top, to a hot, modern chick. She was taller and curvier, too. Kody was definitly not objecting to these changes. Was it wrong to think your best friend looked hot?

Selena smiled up at him with a smile Kody was sure had stopped many guys like him to stop in their tracks.
" Hey, shorty," Kody said using his nickname for Selena. He could tell that she was hurt that he hadn't said goodbye, but Kody just didn't know how to explain. He decided to play like he had never gone away.
" Hey, if you want to kill me now for not saying goodbye, then I guess I'd understand," Kody said jokenly, wincing in preperation for a blow he knew would not come.
